Measures due to virus mutation for vaccinated third-country nationals

Please check your situation and your questions with the latest Travelcheck. There you will find all information regarding entry into Switzerland.

Due to the new virus mutation B1.1.529, Switzerland is tightening its entry regulations towards some third countries. Entry from these countries is now only possible for third-country nationals for stays requiring a permit and in cases of hardship. Even a vaccination, regardless of the vaccine, is no longer sufficient for the entry of third-country nationals from these states. For the entry of Swiss nationals and persons entitled to freedom of movement, the entry regulations have NOT changed. Entry from other Schengen member states (e.g. Belgium) or other third countries (e.g. UK) has NOT changed.

However, the health-related measures at the border of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) apply to various states (third countries and Schengen member states). If you have any questions about these measures, please contact the FOPH directly.

The tightening of entry regulations ONLY affects the entry of third country nationals from the following countries and regions:

  • Botswana
  • Eswatini
  • Lesotho
  • Mozambique
  • Namibia
  • Zimbabwe
  • South Africa
